New Mexico State Science Olympiad Director
I welcome you on behalf of New Mexico Tech and the New Mexico Science Olympiad. New Mexico Tech has been the proud host of the NM Science Olympiad State Championships for 38 years. We hope that you will enjoy your visit to our beautiful campus.
This program is one of the most prestigious science competitions in the United States. Science Olympiad provides rigorous academic challenges to 250,000 students across the 50 states. As a NM Science Olympiad Participant, you are one of these prominent students. Be proud! Your accomplishment was possible because of the commitment made by you, your team members, and your coaches. Your coaches and family devoted hours of their time to make sure you were able to reach this goal. Don't forget to thank everyone who supported you to compete in the State Championship.
As you visit NM Tech, you may also recognize some of our volunteers; many are past NM Science Olympiad participants who have chosen to further their education at NM Tech. Take time to visit with them and ask why they chose to attend this university.
I encourage you to continue your scientific and engineering pursuits. Have fun, play hard, play fair. No matter the outcome, I congratulate you on your accomplishments and making it to the State Championships!

GENERAL RULES, CODE OF ETHICS AND SPIRIT OF THE PROBLEM
V. 2019 (note changes in bold)
The goal of competition is to give one's best effort while displaying honesty, integrity, and good sportsmanship. Everyone is expected to display courtesy and respect (see Science Olympiad Pledges below). Teams are expected to make an honest effort to follow the rules and the spirit of the problem (not interpret the rules so they have an unfair advantage). Failure by a participant, coach, or guest to abide by these codes, accepted safety procedures, or rules below, may result in an assessment of penalty points or, in rare cases, disqualification by the tournament director from the event, the tournament, or future tournaments.
To our sponsors, volunteers, staff and students,
Thank you!
This event wouldn't be possible without the devotion and dedication that you have put
into this, and for that we are eternally grateful.
